We have an idea of what the Mediterranean looks like if you closed your eyes and picture the Southern European landscape. Little coffee cups and terraced buildings with terra-cotta roofs with opaque siding. Sardinia and Corsica does not fit into this category. Although you can find the typical Southern Europe vibes, this landscape is unlike anything imaginable. To the extent the northeast coast of Sardinia is rugged and wild, with a glimpse of both rustic Italian life to the left and on the right, the lavish resorts tucked away along the cost. The islands offshore, resembles more of a foreign world than the Mediterranean. With endless alcoves surrounded by the most paradise of waters, the Sailing Collective experience along this coastline is left for your own interpretation, confused by the beauty and captivated by its mystique, the Sardinia - Corsica Collective itinerary must be on everyone’s to do list.

After graduating with a degree in Outdoor Education, Ross Beane has been relentless about sharing his love of wilderness travel with people wherever he goes. Having worked with with programs from Alaska to Maine, he enjoys guiding students of all ages and abilities into beautiful and remote locations to foster technical know-how and an appreciation of the natural world . With multipul certications in wilderness emergency medicine he brings with him an understanding of risk management that keeps it safe without comprimising fun. An avid sailor since youth, Ross has made many safe crossings and has taught sailing for The Wooden Boat School, New York Harbor Sailing Foundation, and the Manhattan Sailing School before joining Dayyan to help start the Sailing Collective.
Vivian grew up in a culture where eating well was equivalent to living well, the ultimate expression of care and warmth. From seemingly incongruent beginnings in fashion design to event production to the creation of a pop-up dinner series, she realized that her real passion was for building community through the serving and sharing of beautifully presented meals. She remains curious about various methods of cooking and international flavors, finding constant joy while shopping local farmers’ markets throughout her travels.
Dayyan Armstrong founded the Sailing Collective out of a passion for connecting people with the world through adventure and sailing. Having been raised with values based on multi-cultural awareness and the importance of global culture, Dayyan combined his enthusiasm for sailing and exploration to create an integrated sailing vacation organization open to adventures, explorers, and sailors alike. With a background in music performance, social theory, and a graduate degree in economics from the New School for Social Research, Dayyan is always excited to participate in discourse in topics of theory, art, adventure, and exploration. Outside sailing and exploration, Dayyan is passionate about cured meats, design, Maine, social theory, Cook’s Illustrated, a good museum, photography, Harper’s Magazine, and various types of cooking over fire or coals.
Katja Tausig grew up in London - She is currently the head chef of London's Koya Soho. She has spent the past few years working and training in Japanese cuisine, but has a background of Italian food, learned at Trullo Restaurant in London. She has spent summers cooking full time for the Sailing Collective, which allowed her to connect her passions for travel and food. She enjoys learning new and unique recipes directly from the authentic source during her travels and adapts these recipes to her meals aboard using seasonal local produce provisioning locally and foraging when possible. Experience local Mediterranean culture like never experienced before paired with phenomenal sailing and exploring. They blend the boutique shopping, fine dining, and lively nightlife of chic ports such as Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo with the quiet and scenic beauty of the largely uninhabited Maddalena Islands. Meeting time is after 7 pm on Saturday or before 9 am on Sunday. Upon arriving at the marina, you'll be greeted by your captain and chef and you will settle in aboard. There will be a 45 minute tutorial by your captain before getting underway around 11 am to your first island location. Sleep aboards can be arranged for Saturday, the evening before for a cost of $40 and boarding time is after 8 pm with an optional dinner with your crew at nearby restaurant.
By contract, we must be back at the marina by 6 pm on Friday on the final day. At the marina, we'll decide to dine out one last time or eat aboard. We must be off the boat on Saturday by 9 am. Taxis and shuttle services can be arranged to Olbia, your resort, or the airport in advance.

Taxi transfers: The taxi stand is just outside the airport with accessible and affordable taxi service to Marina di Portisco. Transfer is 23 miles and should cost roughly $30.

If you arrive early and wish to explore Sardinia, taxis can be rented for a full date at the price of 60EUR.
Please ensure your passport is valid for the period of travel and for six months after you return. Your passport name must match the name on the flight ticket otherwise you may not be able to travel and insurance may be invalid.
It is the responsibility of each individual to ensure relevant visas are obtained where necessary. The Sailing Collective cannot be held responsible for refusal of entry or travel due to lack of visas. If you are in any doubt please contact your Embassy for full details.
We may spend a day sailing to Corsica so please ensure you have visa access to go into France ahead of time. Please tell a Sailing Collective representative ahead of time if you are unable to go into France.
During summer Sardinia has a virtual sunshine guarantee. The southern coast counts on average no more than three rainy days between June and August. The water temperature at Sardinia's beaches is warm all year. With highs in the mid 80s with nearly tropical water temperature, expect to experience summer temperatures when vacationing in Sardinia.
Sailing Collective will provision your journey with local foods and produce. Cooking Aboard: Your Sailing Collective crew is incredibly talented and can handle the group's needs with ease. We are all about participation and learning, so if you'd like to help, just ask and we'll get you involved! Collective groups may choose to dine out more times than scheduled if the group or individuals choose.
Please note, soft drinks, alcohol, wine, beer, etc. are not included in the provisioning package, but your crew can assist you in purchasing your desired beverages for your group.

Collapsible bags in place of large rigid suitcases are advised for ease of transport on and off the boat.
During days on the water, you’ll want to be wearing light and comfortable clothing. As the vast majority of your time will be spent outside, prepare for elements - bring a light rain coat just in case, a hat to shield yourself from the sun, and a set of warm clothing. Throughout the week we may dine out at a nice restaurant, so bring gear that you’ll look nice in and suits your style. Loading and unloading from the dingy can be a wet activity, a pair of shoes that you can get wet is recommended.
Marina di Portisco is on the north east tip of Sardinia in the Gulf of Cugnana, sheltered from the Mediterranean currents by its inland location. With its beautiful setting between the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean and the soft rolling hills of Portisco, the marina is a popular destination for mariners and tourists alike. The area has a wide range of quality restaurants serving fish, pasta and local cuisine, shops and bars, as well as a number of attractions including the Archipelago of La Maddalena National Park, found just up the coast from Marina di Portisco. 17km away lies the city of Olbia which has a rich history dating back to the 8th Century BC. Among its significant monuments include a Catherdral, Pedres Castle and a Roman Necropolis.
12km Sail: Tavolara is a small island off the northeast coast of Sardinia, Italy. The island is a limestone massif 5 km (3 mi) long and 1 km (0.6 mi) wide, with steep cliffs except at its ends. Its highest point, Monte Cannone, is 565 metres (1,854 feet) above sea level. A cove and beach can be found at each end of the island, Spalmatore di Fuori at the northeast, and Spalmatore di Terra at the southwest. Currently, the island is inhabited by only a handful of families, and has a small cemetery and summer restaurant. The water around the island is a popular spot for scuba diving.
Caprera is a small island off the coast of Sardinia, Italy, located in the Maddalena archipelago. In the area of La Maddalena island in the Strait of Bonifacio, it is a tourist destination and is famous as the place to which Giuseppe Garibaldi retired (1856–82).This island has been declared a natural reserve for the particular species of seabirds living on it (royal seagull, cormorant and peregrine falcon). The island's name is linked to that of Giuseppe Garibaldi, an Italian patriot and fighter who lived in the 19th century and was one of the fathers of the Italian independence. He bought the island in 1855 and died there in 1882. His house is now a museum and a memorial chapel and the island itself is a national monument.
Bonifacio is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea, separated from Sardinia by the Strait of Bonifacio. It is a city placed on the best and only major harbor of the southern coast and also is a commune covering a somewhat larger region including the offshore Isles Lavezzi, giving it the distinction of being the southernmost commune in Metropolitan France.The southern coast in the vicinity of Bonifacio is an outcrop of chalk-white limestone, precipitous and sculpted into unusual shapes by the ocean. Slightly further inland the limestone adjoins the granite of which the two islands, Sardinia and Corsica, are formed. The port of Bonifacio is placed on the Bay of Bonifacio, a drowned ravine of a fjord-like appearance separated from the ocean by a finger-like promontory 1,500 meters long and 200 meters wide.
The island belongs to the National Park of La Maddalena and with an area of 4.20 km ² is the third largest of the archipelago. It has a coastline of 11 km and the tip of Police Officers, the highest of the ' island reach an altitude of 153 meters above sea level. Nature of granite, rich in water and vegetation is home to many protected species of birds.
The Pevero beach is located at only 3 km from Porto Cervo, along the popular and beautiful Emerald Coast. The beach is characterized by a fine and white sand, clear water and a not deep sea bed, which make the beach the right place for families with children. It is also one of the most favorite destination of vip and paparazzi.
